
The authorities in republic of Niger have banned begging in the streets, crossroads and outside stores in the country’s capital Niamey effect from 1st of May 2019.
The authorities have also emphasized the begging of minors have been banned. Adults beggers are only tolerated to claim financial assistance at places of worship and social centers.
This measure follows after meeting with administrative, religious leaders, traditional authorities and civil society in Niamey.
The measures aimed at drawing up an action plan against the phenomenon of begging in the capital, while the African Union Conference will be held there in the next three months.
