Niger: Police Intercept 20 Firearms From Passenger

Nigerian police have intercepted around 20 firearms near Niamey in Bangoula police station from a passenger from neighboring northern Mali.

Police seized a dozen Kalashnikov assault rifles and nine automatic pistols from a passenger traveling on a bus from Gao , the big city in the north of neighboring Mali.

The weapons and several magazines were hidden in cereal sacks discovered during excavations at the western entrance of Niamey, on the road leading to Mali.

The Nigerian traveler was arrested and an investigation is opened, and the arsenal is badly destined for a terrorist organization in Nigeria.

It is the largest seizure of arms recently made in Niamey, where large quantities of drugs and fake pharmaceutical drugs are often intercepted.
