The North East Development Commission (NEDC) is to upgrade coronavirus (COVID-19) laboratory facilities to disease-testing centres.

The commission has already donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hospital beds, ventilators and ambulances to six state governments and tertiary health institutions in northeast.
NEDC’s Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali unfolded the plan Tuesday in Maiduguri, while launching the Rapid Response Intervention (RRI) scheme of commission.

He said presently we are witnessing the second wave of the disease and that all hands must be on deck to contain further spread of disease into 18 senatorial districts in the Northeast region.

According to him, NEDC is not relenting in taking relevant proactive measures to prevent further spread of COVID-19 pandemic but they are donating some items to boost personal protection against COVID-19 pandemic.
