Korean Ambassador Seeks Nigeria’s Support Over Peace Initiatives in North and South Korea

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, Lee In-Tae, has called for the support of Nigerian government in the on-going peace initiatives between North and South Korea.

The Ambassador said this in Abuja, while reiterating that Nigeria was not just a strategic voice in Africa, but also influential in global politics.

He said the positions held by Nigerians in the United Nations have equally positioned it as a country to reckon with among comity of nations.

He explained that though the Republic of Korea might be skeptical about the North’s peace initiative, there was need for the support of well-meaning nations of the world.

Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world stand to benefit, if lasting peace is brokered between the North and South Korea. Recently, President Jae-in Moon of the Republic of Korea and his Democratic People’s Republic of Korea counterpart, Kim, met in a historic peace move at the Inter-Korean Summit in Peace House, Panmunjeon.

Meanwhile, about 71 countries, according to In-Tae, including Nigeria, have written in support of the achievements of the Inter-Korean Summit.
