
A top Islamic State West Africa Province commander, Musa Mani has surrendered to the military during Multi National Joint Task Force operations in the Lake Chad region.
The surrender of Mani, brings to over 53, 000 Boko Haram and ISWAP repentant terrorists in the Northeast region.
According to top military source, in Diffa, Niger Republic, Mani surrendered to troops of task force in Damasak and Malam Fatori in shores of Lake Chad.
An anonymous military officer, also told newsmen that the surrendered ISWAP commander, was of the Hisbah Militant (civil police) in charge of supervising activities of the insurgents.
Mani’s role in ISWAP was to ensure right conduct of fighters in the Lake Chad region, bordering Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria.
Other roles of the former commander was to control and supervise logistics supplies, tax and levies being paid by fishermen and farmers in the region.
