In Commemoration of the 62nd Independence anniversary of Nigeria, The Borno State Government Felicitates today with well meaning Nigerians at home and abroad in a grand celebration at Ramat Square, Maiduguri Borno state.
The occasion is the First of its kind celebrated in 12 years due to peculiar Security challenges bedevilling the state.
The Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum said that the celebration indicates that peace is gradually returning to the state and the country at large, Adding that as a result of successes recorded by the gallant troops of the Nigerian Military and other sister security agencies steered the state Government to closed down all IDP camps in MMC and Jere LGA as well as voluntary resettlement of many communities across the state.
The Governor represented by the Deputy Governor Umar Usman kadafur acknowledged the sacrifice our forefathers for the country to be independent, united and indivisible entity, Assuring that their sacrifices will not be in vain.
The Governor commended the president Muhammadu Buhari for his strive to ensure that every citizen have access to freedom of live and basic social amenities.
He pledged to rededicate and renew his commitment to confronting the challenges of critical infrastructure destroyed by the decade long Boko Haram Insurgency and explore avenues to create Job opportunities to the teeming unemployed youths to minimise the upsurge of social vices in the society.
He further pledged to expand and strengthen resettlement and recovery effort. Promising to improve on Job creation, access to education, portable water supply amongst others.
He enjoined the citizenry to remain united, live peacefully and shun all tendencies capable of plunging the nation into chaos and anarchy as the 2023 General elections approaches. He encouraged the people of the state to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and peaceful co-existence for a prosperous nation.
