IGP Calls On Media To Assits Police In Restoring Peace In The Country

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has called on the media to assist the police in their quest to restore peace in the country.

According to him, the media should go beyond reporting the crises in the country to proffering solutions.

The IGP, who was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, a Commissioner of Police, stated this at the opening of the 17th All Nigeria Editors Conference.

He, also called on the media to work in tandem with the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission in order to have a free and fair election in Anambra.

The Director-General, Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, who was represented by the service’s spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, called on the media to identify “unknown gunmen” by their names.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, who was represented by Mr Emma Anzaku harped on the need for security agencies and journalists to work together.
