Governor of Borno state Babagana Zulum had on Monday met and commiserated with families of policemen and civilian JTF volunteers that died in an ambush by suspected insurgents while travelling to Baga last Friday.
The governor visited the headquarters of Borno State police in Maiduguri where he met all the bereaved families whom he condoled.
He said that it is very unfortunate that the incident happened and May Almighty God in his infinite mercy forgive and reward them for their sacrifices.
He also said that they died as heroes, as patriots and as people that have brought honour to their families even though they never wished it to happened.
The statement signed by Isa Gusau, the Governor’s spokesman indicated that Governor Zulum did announce that he Borno state government is going to offer support to families of bereaved.
He added that the Government will not publicly announce the nature of support to so that it does not appear as if the support equalled the values of the lives of those killed noting that nothing can compensate for the life of a human being.
He further said that the governor condole with the Borno state police command, the Commissioner of Police, the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force and entire Nigerians over the sad moment.
Governor Zulum was also at the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri to sympathise with the injured victims of the Baga ambush.
