Borno state government is to put measures in place to forestall reoccurrence of fire incident even as it announced plan to remodel Gambaru grains and vegetables markets.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum announced this during assessment visit to Gambaru market part of which was gutted by fire last Saturday.
Governor Zulum who was in Mafa to cast his ballots returned to Maiduguri and visited the Market to sympathise with the affected traders, with assurance that government will support the traders and rebuild the market, adding that he will return to assess the damages done after the fire was put out.
The Governor during the returned assessment visit said the committee set up to rebuild Monday market has also been mandated to support the victims of Gambaru market fire disaster and rebuild the market, charging the leadership of the market to make submit accurate list of the victims and destroyed property for government support.
The Governor expressed need to remodel the market and build two additional markets.
