The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has stormed some filling stations in Maiduguri with a call on Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR to seal off stations hoarding products.
In a surprised outing on Tuesday, the Governor evaluated quantities of fuel available at some stations visited.
The visit was informed by reports made to him, of some unpatriotic marketers taking advantage of Covid-19, preventive measures put in place by Government to exploit buyers through hoarding of products.
The Governor’s visit made some fuel stations to revert to government’s fixed prices of N125 per liter as against inflated rates forced on buyers who bought for fear of scarcity.
Zulum had during interactions with marketers frowned at exploitative behavior and said he would ensure defaulters were punished by DPR the regulatory agency.
He assured of a follow up with DPR so that the affected stations will be appropriately sanctioned to serve as deterrent.
