The Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has condemned recent killings of innocent citizens around Bali and Takum Local Government Area.
The Governor was Speaking during an interactive session with a journalist in commemorating his six year anniversary at the Government House Jalingo.
He said the recent crisis between the TIVs and Fulanis started from Benue State which escalated to the State leading to the death of eighteen persons.
The Governor stated that it was not easy for him to bring back peace in the trouble spots in the state urging Tarabans to always maintain peace.
Governor Ishaku called on Tarabans to shun rumour mongering which is hitherto responsible for the escalation of crisis.
He distanced himself on the creation of regional police and reechoed his stance for the creation of State and Local Government Police.
The Governor charged the Nigeria Army to redoubled their effort at combating criminal element in the Country stating that it would be a shame if they cannot end insurgency in the Northeast when they have done same in other countries.
Governor Darius Ishaku applauded the leadership style of NUJ Chairman Taraba State Council David Nya for his forsight d maturity he has exhibited in handling issues of the Union.
He pledged to fulfill his promise of renovating the NUJ Center when funds are available since it is captured in this year’s budget.
