WhatsApp is finally rolling out group video- and voice-calls to its 1.5 billion users around the world.
Commenting on the development Aisha Alkali, a Maiduguri base expert on Information and Communication Technology said this while Interacting with our staff Mustapha Muhammad Mustapha who anchor of one the our famous programme titled Science and Technology.
Aisha Alkali recalled that Facebook first introduced group audio calls to its own Messenger app back in April 2016.
She however said that while some of its rivals support up to 200 people in a single group call, WhatsApp is keeping things sensible.
She stressed that Group calls will certainly be a welcome addition to WhatsApp’s feature set among its global throng of users.
Meanwhile, Apple is also preparing to launch group video calls with the upcoming public release of iOS 12.
The expert also advises social media users in Maiduguri and Nigeria in general to be very careful before joining or accepting an invitations to a group so that they can stay safe without being a victims of circumstances all the time.
