Commission Postpones Yobe Council Election to December 2020 Committee

Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), said on Friday that 16 political parties had indicated their willingness to participate in the forthcoming Local Government Council elections in the state scheduled to take place on December 5, 2020.
YOSIEC Chairman, Dr. Mamman Muhammad who disclosed this at a press conference in Damaturu, listed the political parties that were interested to contest the elections to include APGA, SDP, APP, ZLP, LP, APC, APM, ACCORD, YPP, NNPP and PRP.

According to him, the election was earlier scheduled for September 2020 but now postponed to December 2020 due to some unforeseen circumstances.

”After series of representations from the election stakeholders, and taking into consideration the elaborate plans needed to comply with COVID-19 protocols, the commission is compelled to review the schedule.

“A revised schedule dated September 4, is hereby released. This new schedule overrides and replaces the September 1, time table,” Mamman said.

He however appealed to the stakeholders and other relevant authorities to take cognisance of the changes on the new date while assuring that YOSIEC will be kept them upgrade on all developments.
