Borno State University to Commence Academic Activities This Year

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State in northeast Nigeria says the will name the principles officers of Borno State University this month prelude to commencement of academic activities this year.

The governor who stated this at a parley with journalists in Maiduguri said the delay in commencement of academic activities was brought about by the desire to provide a standard university with facilities comparable to first and second-generation universities in the country.

He also said the all housing projects spread across Maiduguri as other local government areas would be completed and distributed to deserving members of the public in the next three months.

Kashim Shettima attributed the delay in completing the estates to thier being used as IDP camps noting that with peace now returning and the IPDs also going back to their communities the estates would be completed.

The governor regretted that the insurgency has destroyed many public buildings including schools and clinics but assured that his administration would repair and put back to use all these facilities so that normal economic, social and political activities would continue
