Borno state government has disbursed ₦1bn as social protection to 120,000 female IDPs, 300 gender based violence survivors and other vulnerable groups to start business.
The Executive Chairman Borno State Emergency Management Agency, HajiyaYabawaKolo told our reporter Sa’idSa’AdaAbdullahi after the inter-ministerial press briefing at MPH Hall Government House Maiduguri.
HajiyaYabawa noted that other beneficiaries of funds include 3,127 petty traders, 4,164 physically challenged and over 28,162 youths engaged in wealth for cash to dissuade them from political thuggery.
She said the state government is preparing to receive about 200,000 refugees from Chad, Cameroon and Niger republics and resettle them in safer locations.
According to the SEMA Chairperson, the Agency has constructed 4,287 emergency shelters in 6 local government areas to decongest some of the camps and address shelter needs of the displaced.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the state Governor on SDGs and Humanitarian Development, DrMairoMandara said a twenty five year Development Plan for Borno state would soon be unveiled.
According to her, the plan is aimed at propelling the state on the path of growth in its post-insurgency recovery drive.
