Borno Judicial Commission Removes Upper Shari’a Court Judge Over Petition

Borno State Judicial Service Commission has removed an upper Shari’a court Judge following the alarm raised by an association.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to Dandalkura by the commissions Secretary S. K. Jidda Esq in Maiduguri today.

The statement explained that the upper Shari’a court Judge Alkali Mohammed Hassan Yakub was removed for sitting outside his his territorial jurisdiction.

The statement also said as a result of the investigation of a petition to the office of the Chief Judge by the Kwayam Development Association for allowing himself to be used as a tool of persecution.

The statement also revealed that the commission has made a series of adjustments.

It demoted a Senior Magistrate Grade 1 to MagistrateGrade 1 and a Higher Sharia Court Judge to Sharia Court Judge Grade 1.

And also Elevated 11 Higher Sharia Court Judges to Upper Sharia Court Judges after unblemished service on their current positions and passing a re-assessment examination with scores over 60%.

It promoted 5 Higher Sharia Court Judges to Senior Sharia Court Judges and Promoted 2 Sharia Court Judges to the rank of Higher Sharia Court Judges.
