Borno Govt, UNICEF Organises Children’s Day Match For IDPs

The Wife of Borno state Governor, Dr Falmata Babagana Zulum has assured displaced children due to Boko Haram insurgency that they will be given the needed support to be productive members of the society.

Dr Falmata gave the assurance at an event to celebrate the Universal Children’s Day at University of Maiduguri.

The programme was organised by Ministry of Women Affairs with the support of UNICEF, Multi-aid Charity Initiative of the Wife of Borno state Governor and Goalprime.

Represented by the Commissioner Ministry for Women Affairs Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, Wife of the Governor praised the resilience of the children despite the trauma, they have continued with their education.

According to her, the event has showcase the resilience of Borno child and also promote unity among diverse segment of the society.
Dr Falmata Babagana Zulum said the children will continue to be groomed and monitored to enable them realise their needs.

United Nations Children Fund UNICEF acting Head of Maiduguri Field Office Dr Clement Adams said as peace is gradually returning to the state, the target is to put children at the centre of development.

Highlight of the event was the final football match between students of Moduganari junior secondary and Gwange junior secondary school where Moduganari defeated Gwange 4-0 to win the competition.
