The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi in collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has organised a five days’ workshop for lecturers of universities and heads of some tertiary institutions from northeast zone on grant writing skills in order to enable them access funds for researches.
The training is coming just after President Muhammadu Buhari increased the National Research Fund from 5 billion naira to 7.5 billion naira.
Declaring the workshop open at Command Guest House Bauchi, the executive secretary of TETFUND, Professor Suleiman Bogoro noted that academics from the region lag behind in writing grant proposals for researches.
Represented by the Director-General National Office for Technology Acquisition, Dr Dan’azumi Ibrahim Mohammed, said that the pattern was not encouraging, hence, the need for the workshop to train northeast lecturers on how to write to access the research funds made available by the federal government.
Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Professor Mohammed Abdulazeez, stated that the university is determined to contribute its quota in solving Nigeria’s problems through researches.
