Another Confirmed COVID-19 Patient Disappeared in Borno on Sunday

One individual positive of Coronavirus case in Borno State has gone into hiding but he is being traced for evacuation into the isolation centre, the Secretary of the High Powered Response for Prevention and Control of Covid-19 who is also the Commissioner of Health, Dr Salihu Kwaya-Bura has disclosed to the Press during the daily update at the Multi-purpose hall of Government House Maiduguri on Sunday.

He said 211 contacts were being followed out of which 31 returned positive with 15 being contacts of the index case while 16 were from the community adding that seven persons are in the Abba Kyari Memorial isolation centre, 12 at the UMTH isolation centre and nine others at the state isolation while three positive cases have died.

The Commissioner further said that 56 alerts were received through the toll free lines with two cases meeting the criteria and samples have been obtained from them and submitted to testing at the laboratory and results are being awaited.

Speaking on the lockdown free for Monday earlier, the Special Adviser to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau said all Banks are free to operate from 8:00AM till their closing time to ensure that customers access their money to buy essentials within the the period.

He reiterated the earlier instructions that people going to collect their money at the Banks and those going into the markets must wear face masks and mentain social distancing as a way of preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.

Malam Isa Gusau also stressed that the ban on inter city/State movement will remain in force adding that the time for free movement will be from 8: 00 AM to 5:00 PM when the lockdown order shall come into effect again.
