The humanitarian cooperate social responsibility roles being provided to the communities in Yola South and Demsa local government areas in Adamawa state by the famous Agricultural products Manufacturing based factory,Afcott Nigeria Limited is touching the lives of the people in many positive ways which the governments shouldn’t allow to go unreciprocated.

Established in 1986 by the Govinda D. Chanrai group with the primary objective of production of large scale cotton production and processing,Afcott Nigeria Limited turned out to became a multi-facets business adventure where millions tones of Agricultural products are growth and processed in to food and fabric for human consumption.

But the story of this human development factory seems to be changing due challenges militating against its smooth operation such as lack of adequate raw materials,epileptic electricity generation,poor road networks in its catchment areas,lack of trade re validation opportunity,insecurity especially Boko Haram insurgency as well as lack of subsidy to farmers on seeds among others.

Administration Manager of the company,Chief Ilegieuno Bawalkson who took a team of journalists round the facilities of the factory explained that the existence of the company has provided job opportunities to thousands of locals in the areas noting that majority of casual workers are sourced with in the surrounding communities.

Chief Bawalkson said the over 3000 hectares of farmland acquired by Afcott are shared to local farmers to enable them grow products which in turn are sold to the factory as raw materials for production stressing that even the factory’s water supply channels are open to rural dwellers apart from the provision of motorised boreholes and wells to the villages.

A visit to the factory’s community health care hospital named after the founder of Afcott Nigeria limited,Tulsi Chanrai Foundation primary Healthcare project in Ngurore village is a breakthrough capital project purposely structured for saving human lives at no cost otherwise called ‘Free of charge ‘

Medical Doctor manning the hospital,Dr.Ubong Shammah maintained that the medical facility is a 19 bed capacity outfit where maternal maternity and child care services are rendered to patients at no cost basis.

Dr.Shammah explained that the hospital with two (2) qualified Doctors and over twenty (20) workforce strength have been rendering medical services to people in the surrounding communities for twenty four (24) hours every week.

Shammah stated that all treatments for children under one year are wholly free observing that majority of their patients especially children under the age of five (5yrs) are suffering from malnutrition related cases hitherto playing a supervisory role in maternal delivering cases to pregnant women.

He added that the health facility is having sixteen (16) health care outposts across Yola South local government Area and that at least fifteen (15) patients are attended to on daily basis while more complicated cases are always referred to Federal Medical Centre Yola for necessary attention.

While speaking to Dandalkura some of the beneficiary of the health facilities said the hospital is saving life .
Maryam Muhammad said ” I came to this hospital and I delivered successful and didn’t pay a dime am very great full to them .
Another young man mall inusa Ibrahim who brought his 15month old baby also said “my daughter was sick since last night and I brought her here for treatment without paying anything except 30 naira for consultancy card and this hospital is giving us free medicine to children’s from 0- 12months and anything above is given to us as affordable rate.
