The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to arrest politicians buying Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from poor voters.
This was contained in a statement issued by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, on Sunday.
The rights group also wants Buhari to ensure that the politicians and their sponsors who are suspected to be involved in what it describes as grave electoral and human rights crimes are named and shamed, regardless of their political affiliations.
It could be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently alleged that some politicians are buying PVCs from poor Nigerians across the country, the group said the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) corroborated the allegations, reportedly stating that some politicians are buying PVCs with N2,000 in the north.
