The Borno State Ministry of Education has flagged off a Learn at Home programme targeting final year students that will write West African Senior School Certificate WAEC and National Examination Council NECO which is scheduled to take place in May and June 2020.
The Commissioner for Education, Bello Ayuba stated this in a press conference at Musa Usman Secretariat Maiduguri.
Ayuba emphasizedthat this followed after the lockdown directive issued by the state Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum as part of proactive measures against the spread of COVID-19.
He said the Ministry of education has accomplished all the necessary preparations to reach SS3 students across the state using Radio and Television signals. Adding that lessons would be transmitted through the airwaves of Dandal Kura FM, Borno Radio Television, Radio Nigeria, Peace FM Maiduguri, Nigeria Television Authority NTA, with effect from Monday 13th of Aril 2020.
The Commissioner called on parents and guardians to advise their children to grab the advantage of this opportunity. He then called on all and sundry to respect the rules of social distancing, and wash their hands regularly.
On his part,Ali Kaka, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of education also explained that the programs comprise seventy percent of the subjects taught at senior school levels. Adding that competent teachers were chosen from few schools to run the 45 minutes lesson.
